Grapeseed and Skin Meal - Feed Ingredient
Grapeseed and skin meal is a byproduct of grape processing, typically obtained after the extraction of juice or wine production. It consists primarily of grape skins and seeds, which are dried and ground into a meal. This ingredient is rich in fiber, polyphenols, flavonoids, and essential fatty acids, particularly from the grapeseeds, which contain oil high in linoleic acid.
In equine nutrition, grapeseed and skin meal is sometimes included in feed formulations for its fiber content and antioxidant properties. The polyphenols present in grape byproducts have been studied for their potential role in oxidative balance. However, due to the presence of tannins and other phenolic compounds, excessive consumption may interfere with nutrient absorption.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Grapeseed and Skin Meal as an ingredient.
