Ground Oats - Feed Ingredient
Ground oats are whole oat grains that have been milled into a finer texture, increasing their surface area and improving digestibility for horses. This processing makes nutrients, particularly starch and protein, more accessible during digestion.
In equine feeds, ground oats are used as a source of energy, fiber, and moderate protein. Compared to other grains, oats are naturally higher in fiber and have a softer kernel, making them one of the more easily digested cereal grains for horses—even in less processed forms.
Ground oats are commonly included in textured or pelleted feeds and can be suitable for most horses, though their starch content should still be managed in horses with metabolic concerns.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Ground Oats as an ingredient.
