Guar Gum - Feed Ingredient

Guar gum is a polysaccharide extracted from the seeds of the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), a leguminous crop grown primarily in India and Pakistan. The gum is derived from the endosperm of the seed and is processed into a fine, off-white powder. It consists mostly of galactomannan, a type of soluble fiber known for its high viscosity when mixed with water.

In equine nutrition, guar gum is used as a feed additive or functional ingredient, primarily for its thickening and stabilizing properties. It may be included in pelleted feeds, supplements, or gel-based formulations to improve texture, moisture retention, or uniformity.
