Hemp Hearts - Feed Ingredient

Hemp hearts are the hulled seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant, cultivated from low-THC industrial hemp varieties. They are rich in plant-based protein, essential fatty acids, and micronutrients.

Used in some equine feeds as a protein and fat source, hemp hearts are more digestible than whole hemp seeds due to the removal of the fibrous outer shell. However, limited data exists on the digestibility and bioavailability of hemp protein specifically in horses.

Their inclusion is generally safe, though use may be restricted by local regulations concerning hemp-derived feed ingredients.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Hemp Hearts as an ingredient.
