Hesperidin - Feed Ingredient
Hesperidin is a bioflavonoid, or plant-based polyphenol, commonly found in citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruits. It is classified as a flavanone glycoside and is often extracted from the peels and pulp of citrus fruits during the processing of citrus juice. Hesperidin is primarily used in nutritional supplements and specialty feed formulations due to its antioxidant and vascular-supporting properties.
In equine nutrition, hesperidin may be included as part of a flavonoid complex or botanical additive intended to support normal physiological functions. While not an essential nutrient, it is sometimes used in feed supplements targeting circulatory health, oxidative balance, or metabolic support. Its inclusion is based on its potential biological activity, including roles in capillary integrity and modulation of inflammatory pathways, as observed in non-equine models.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Hesperidin as an ingredient.
