Hops - Feed Ingredient
Hops are the dried cone-like flowers of the Humulus lupulus plant, commonly known for their use in brewing due to their bittering, flavoring, and preservative properties. The flowers contain various bioactive compounds, including alpha acids (humulone and lupulone), essential oils, flavonoids, and polyphenols.
In equine feed or supplement formulations, hops are occasionally used as a botanical additive, typically in dried or powdered form. Their inclusion is generally intended for functional or herbal applications, such as digestive or calming support, although equine-specific research is limited. Hops may also be included in small amounts in brewer’s byproducts used in some feeds.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Hops as an ingredient.
