L-Tyrosine - Feed Ingredient
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid synthesized in the body from phenylalanine and also found in dietary protein sources. It serves as a precursor for several biologically important compounds, including the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, as well as thyroid hormones and melanin.
In equine nutrition, L-Tyrosine may be included in specialty supplements or amino acid blends to support specific physiological functions. Although horses typically produce sufficient tyrosine endogenously, supplementation may be considered in diets with limited protein quality or in animals under stress or high workload, where demand for neurotransmitter synthesis may be elevated.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain L-Tyrosine as an ingredient.
