Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic bacterium commonly included in equine feed and supplements to support gut microbiota balance and digestive function. It is a lactic acid-producing bacterium that naturally resides in the gastrointestinal tract and contributes to the fermentation of fiber and other dietary components.

In equine nutrition, Lactobacillus acidophilus is often used to aid in maintaining a stable microbial population, particularly during periods of stress, dietary changes, or antibiotic treatment.
