Lucerne - Feed Ingredient

Lucerne (Medicago sativa), commonly known as alfalfa, is a perennial legume widely used as a high-quality forage in equine nutrition. It is often used as a forage-based source of calories and protein.

It is often fed to performance horses, broodmares, growing horses, and senior horses to support muscle maintenance, bone health, and overall energy needs. Due to its high calcium content, it should be balanced with phosphorus sources in the diet to prevent mineral imbalances, particularly for young, growing horses.
