Magnesium Hydroxide - Feed Ingredient
Magnesium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)₂. It appears as a white, odorless powder and is sparingly soluble in water. In equine feed and supplement formulations, it is primarily used as a source of elemental magnesium and occasionally as a buffering agent.
Magnesium is an essential macro-mineral involved in numerous physiological processes including muscle function, nerve conduction, and enzyme activity. Magnesium hydroxide provides a bioavailable form of magnesium and may be included to help meet the horse’s dietary magnesium requirements.
