Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) - Feed Ingredient

Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) are complex carbohydrates derived from the cell walls of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. They are classified as prebiotics, meaning they serve as a food source for beneficial gut microbes rather than being directly digested by the horse. MOS contains mannose-rich sugar structures that can interact with gut bacteria.

In equine nutrition, MOS is included in feed formulations and supplements to support digestive health. It may help promote a balanced gut microbiome by reducing the attachment of undesirable bacteria to the intestinal lining. MOS is commonly used in feeds for young, stressed, or performance horses where gut health and immune function are a priority.
