Methylparaben - Feed Ingredient
Methylparaben is a synthetic compound and is commonly used as a preservative in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and animal feed products. It appears as a white, crystalline powder and is known for its antimicrobial properties, particularly its ability to inhibit the growth of molds, yeasts, and some bacteria.
In equine products, methylparaben is used as a non-nutritive additive, primarily included in supplements, liquid formulations, or topical applications to extend shelf life and prevent microbial spoilage. It is not a source of energy, protein, or other essential nutrients and is not used in forage or concentrate feeds. Its inclusion is strictly functional, aimed at maintaining product stability and safety during storage and use.
