Micronized Flaxseed (Linseed) - Feed Ingredient
Micronized flaxseed, also known as linseed, is the processed seed of the Linum usitatissimum plant. Micronization involves applying heat and mechanical processing to reduce particle size and deactivate anti-nutritional factors such as cyanogenic glycosides, making the flaxseed safe and more digestible for horses.
Flaxseed is valued in equine nutrition for its high content of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid, as well as its moderate protein content and soluble fiber. It is commonly included to support dietary fat intake and enhance the overall fatty acid profile of the diet.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Micronized Flaxseed (Linseed) as an ingredient.
