Monoglycerides - Feed Ingredient
Monoglycerides, or monoacylglycerols, are lipid molecules composed of a glycerol backbone with a single fatty acid attached. Monoglycerides often appear in feed formulations as part of monoglyceride-diglyceride blends and are used for their emulsifying and stabilizing properties.
In equine feed and supplement production, monoglycerides are utilized primarily as functional additives rather than nutrient sources. Their amphiphilic structure allows them to act as emulsifiers, helping to blend fat-soluble ingredients uniformly into feed matrices or liquid preparations. This function is particularly important in products containing oils, fat-soluble vitamins, or other hydrophobic components.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Monoglycerides as an ingredient.
