Mucopolysaccharides - Feed Ingredient
Mucopolysaccharides, now more commonly referred to as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), are long, unbranched polysaccharide chains composed of repeating disaccharide units. Common types include chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, dermatan sulfate, and heparan sulfate. These compounds are naturally found in connective tissues, synovial fluid, cartilage, and skin.
In equine supplements, mucopolysaccharides are included to support joint and connective tissue health. They are often derived from animal tissues such as cartilage, trachea, or marine sources, and may be combined with other compounds like glucosamine or MSM.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Mucopolysaccharides as an ingredient.
