Nutmeg - Feed Ingredient

Nutmeg is the ground seed of the Myristica fragrans tree, native to the Spice Islands. It contains aromatic compounds such as myristicin and safrole, which give it its distinctive flavor and fragrance.

In equine nutrition, nutmeg is not commonly used due to its potent essential oil content. While it may occasionally appear in trace amounts in herbal or flavoring blends, it is not a standard feed ingredient.

Nutmeg should be used with caution in horses.
