Omega 9 Fatty Acids - Feed Ingredient
Omega-9 fatty acids are a class of monounsaturated fats, with oleic acid being the most common form. Unlike omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, omega-9s are not classified as essential fatty acids because horses can synthesize them endogenously from unsaturated fats in the diet.
In equine feed formulations, omega-9 fatty acids are typically introduced through plant-based oils such as canola oil, olive oil, sunflower oil (high-oleic variety), and certain algae oils. These fats may be used to increase caloric density in the ration and can serve as an alternative or complement to other fat sources.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Omega 9 Fatty Acids as an ingredient.
