Cloves - Feed Ingredient
Cloves are the dried flower buds of the Syzygium aromaticum tree, native to Southeast Asia. They are highly aromatic due to their high essential oil content, particularly eugenol, which is responsible for their pungent, spicy-sweet scent and flavor. In equine nutrition, cloves are used as a botanical additive in dried or powdered form.
In feed and supplement formulations, cloves are primarily included for their aromatic and functional properties, not as a source of essential nutrients. They may be added to improve palatability or as part of herbal blends targeting digestive or general wellness support.
