Panax notoginseng - Feed Ingredient

Panax notoginseng, also known as notoginseng or “Sanqi,” is a perennial herb in the Araliaceae family, related to Asian and American ginseng. The root is the most commonly used part and contains saponins (ginsenosides), polysaccharides, and flavonoids.

In equine nutrition, Panax notoginseng may be included in herbal supplements aimed at supporting circulation, recovery, or general vitality. It has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine for its purported effects on blood flow and inflammation. However, research in horses is limited.
