Paprika - Feed Ingredient
Paprika is a ground spice made from the dried fruits of Capsicum annuum varieties, including sweet and mild chili peppers. It is commonly processed into a fine red-orange powder and used both for its color and its mild flavor. Paprika contains several naturally occurring bioactive compounds, most notably carotenoids such as capsanthin and beta-carotene, which contribute to its vibrant color and antioxidant properties.
In equine nutrition, Paprika is occasionally used as a natural colorant or flavor enhancer in feed formulations. Its antioxidant content may offer secondary benefits, such as support for immune function and oxidative balance, though it is not typically included in sufficient quantities to serve as a major nutrient source.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Paprika as an ingredient.
