Phosphatidylcholine - Feed Ingredient
Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid composed of choline, phosphate, glycerol, and fatty acids. It is a major component of cell membranes and is commonly sourced from lecithin, particularly soy or sunflower lecithin, for use in feed and supplement formulations.
In equine nutrition, phosphatidylcholine may be included as a functional ingredient rather than a direct nutrient source. It contributes to cell membrane structure and integrity and plays a role in lipid metabolism and liver function. It is also a key source of choline, a nutrient involved in nerve signaling and fat transport.
