Piper futokadsura (Kadsura Pepper Stem) - Feed Ingredient
Piper futokadsura, also referred to as Kadsura pepper or Kadsura stem, is a botanical ingredient derived from a plant native to East Asia. Despite the name, it is not a true Piper species (black pepper genus) but is often associated with plants in the Kadsura genus, which are used in traditional Chinese medicine.
The stem of Kadsura species contains various bioactive compounds, including lignans, essential oils, and flavonoids. These constituents have been explored for their potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in herbal medicine .Scientific data on its safety and efficacy in horses is limited.
