Propyl Alcohol - Feed Ingredient
Propyl alcohol, also known as 1-propanol or n-propanol, is a colorless, volatile alcohol used primarily as a solvent in industrial and pharmaceutical applications. It is chemically similar to isopropyl alcohol but differs in molecular structure and properties.
In equine feed and supplement manufacturing, propyl alcohol is not commonly used as a direct feed ingredient. However, it may be present in trace amounts as a solvent or carrier in certain liquid flavorings, herbal extracts, or processing aids. Its inclusion, if any, is strictly regulated to ensure safety and compliance with feed additive standards.
