Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) - Feed Ingredient

Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a stable, water-soluble form of vitamin B6, an essential nutrient involved in amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and immune function in horses. Vitamin B6 is critical for the conversion of proteins and carbohydrates into usable energy, as well as for the production of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen in the blood. It also plays a role in nervous system function by aiding in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.

Vitamin B6 is naturally found in common equine feedstuffs, including forages, grains, and oilseeds, and is synthesized by intestinal microbes, making deficiencies rare in horses. However, horses in high-intensity training, those experiencing stress, or those on high-protein diets may have increased requirements for vitamin B6. Deficiency symptoms, though uncommon, may include reduced appetite, poor growth, nervous system dysfunction, and anemia.
