Reed-Sedge Peat - Feed Ingredient

Reed-sedge peat is an organic material formed from the partial decomposition of aquatic plants, primarily reeds and sedges, in wetland environments over extended periods. It is dark, fibrous, and highly absorbent, with a high content of humic substances and organic matter. Reed-sedge peat is typically harvested from peat bogs and may be used in horticultural, environmental, and limited animal feed applications.

In equine nutrition, reed-sedge peat is not a conventional feed ingredient but may appear in specialty supplements or gastrointestinal formulations. However, scientific validation of its benefits in horses is limited.
