Reishi Mushroom - Feed Ingredient
Ganoderma lucidum, commonly known as reishi mushroom or lingzhi, is a medicinal fungus that has been used for centuries in traditional Eastern medicine. The fruiting body and mycelium of the mushroom contain a wide range of bioactive compounds, including triterpenoids, polysaccharides (such as beta-glucans), sterols, and peptides.
In equine feed or supplement formulations, Ganoderma lucidum is included for its functional properties rather than for basic nutrition. It is typically dried and ground into a powder or included as an extract. Its bioactive constituents are studied for potential roles in immune modulation, antioxidant activity, and cellular signaling pathways. However, research in horses is limited and dosages that are both effective and safe are not know.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Reishi Mushroom as an ingredient.
