Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) - Feed Ingredient
Retinyl Palmitate is a synthetic ester of retinol (Vitamin A) and palmitic acid. It is a fat-soluble form of Vitamin A commonly used in animal nutrition due to its stability and bioavailability. In equine feeds and supplements, Retinyl Palmitate serves as a concentrated source of Vitamin A, an essential micronutrient involved in vision, immune function, reproduction, and cellular growth.
This form of Vitamin A is preferred in feed formulations because it is more stable than pure retinol and can be more easily incorporated into premixes without rapid degradation. After ingestion, Retinyl Palmitate is hydrolyzed in the small intestine to release retinol, which is then absorbed and metabolized to active forms such as retinal and retinoic acid.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) as an ingredient.
