Rice Bran - Feed Ingredient

Rice bran is the outer layer of the rice grain that is removed during milling to make white rice. It includes parts of the husk, seed coat, and germ. Rice bran is valued as a feed ingredient due to its high energy content.

In equine nutrition, rice bran is commonly used as a source of fat and digestible energy, making it an excellent feed option for horses requiring additional calories, such as performance horses or those needing weight gain. It has a moderate starch content.

However, it has a naturally high phosphorus content, which can disrupt the calcium-to-phosphorus ratio in equine diets. To balance this, many commercial rice bran products are fortified with calcium.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Rice Bran as an ingredient.
