Rosehip Shells - Feed Ingredient
Rosehip shells are the dried outer fruit husks of the Rosa canina plant and related rose species, remaining after the removal of seeds. They are a botanical ingredient valued for their naturally high content of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), as well as flavonoids, carotenoids, and various polyphenolic compounds. The shells are typically processed by drying and milling into a fine powder or coarse particulate for feed use.
In equine nutrition, rosehip shells are included in supplements aimed at supporting general wellness or antioxidant intake. They may also contribute small amounts of fiber and naturally occurring bioactives such as quercetin and galactolipids. While the vitamin C content is of interest, the levels present in dried rosehip shells can vary and are generally lower than those in concentrated ascorbate supplements.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Rosehip Shells as an ingredient.
