Siberian Ginseng - Feed Ingredient
Siberian Ginseng, also known by its botanical name Eleutherococcus senticosus, is a woody shrub native to Northeastern Asia, including parts of Russia, China, Korea, and Japan. It is not a true ginseng but is commonly grouped with ginseng-like herbs due to its similar adaptogenic properties. The active constituents of Siberian Ginseng include eleutherosides, a group of compounds believed to contribute to its physiological effects.
In equine feed and supplement formulations, Siberian Ginseng is typically used in extract or powdered root form. It is included as a botanical additive rather than a nutritional ingredient, often aimed at horses undergoing physical exertion, environmental stress, or aging. While horses do not require it as part of a core nutritional program, it may be included in performance or herbal blends for its adaptogenic properties.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Siberian Ginseng as an ingredient.
