Sodium Benzoate - Feed Ingredient
Sodium benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid, commonly used as a preservative in food and feed products. It functions by inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and some bacteria, particularly in acidic environments.
In equine nutrition, sodium benzoate may be included in liquid feed supplements or molasses-based products to extend shelf life and maintain microbial stability. It is used in very small quantities and is not intended to provide nutritional value.
