Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose - Feed Ingredient
Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is a chemically modified cellulose derivative used in equine feeds and supplements primarily as a stabilizer, thickening agent, or binder.
In feed applications, CMC functions as a suspending agent in liquid formulations, helps improve texture and consistency in gels and pastes, and enhances the binding properties of pelleted or extruded products. It is also used to control moisture retention and improve the stability of powdered mixes. Due to its high viscosity and water-holding capacity, CMC contributes to the palatability and uniformity of various feed forms.
CMC is considered inert and non-toxic, with no nutritional value or direct metabolic impact. It is not digested by the horse and passes through the gastrointestinal tract largely unchanged
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose as an ingredient.
