Spinach - Feed Ingredient
Spinach is a leafy green vegetable that is sometimes included in animal feed in dried or powdered form. It contains a range of nutrients, including fiber, beta-carotene (provitamin A), folate, iron, calcium, and various phytonutrients. In equine nutrition, spinach is not commonly used as a primary feed ingredient but may appear in herbal blends, treats, or specialized supplements.
Spinach is primarily included for its functional or botanical contribution rather than as a core nutritional component. While it contains useful micronutrients, its high oxalate content can interfere with calcium absorption, making it unsuitable for inclusion at high levels in equine diets.
