Streptococcus thermophilus is a thermophilic lactic acid bacterium commonly used in the dairy industry for yogurt and cheese fermentation. In feed applications, it may be included as a probiotic or direct-fed microbial (DFM) to support gut health.

In equine nutrition, dried S. thermophilus may be incorporated into probiotic blends aimed at stabilizing gastrointestinal microflora, supporting hindgut fermentation, and promoting digestive function.
