Wheat Flour - Feed Ingredient
Wheat flour is a finely ground product made from the milled endosperm of wheat grains (Triticum spp.). It primarily consists of starch and protein, with varying levels of fiber, depending on the degree of processing. Different types of wheat flour exist, such as whole wheat flour, which retains bran and germ, and refined wheat flour, which is primarily starch with reduced fiber content.
In equine nutrition, wheat flour is not a common primary ingredient but may be used in pelleted feeds, treats, or binding agents for supplements. It serves as an energy source, providing digestible carbohydrates, though its high starch content makes it less suitable for horses with metabolic conditions, insulin resistance, or starch sensitivities.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Wheat Flour as an ingredient.
