Wheat Germ - Feed Ingredient

Wheat germ is the nutrient-rich embryo of the wheat kernel that is separated during the milling of refined flour. It is a concentrated source of nutrients, including protein, unsaturated fats, B-vitamins (especially folate and thiamine), vitamin E (tocopherols), and essential minerals such as zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus.

In equine nutrition, wheat germ is used in small quantities as a complementary ingredient in feeds or supplements to enhance nutrient density and palatability. It is particularly valued for its high vitamin E content, which can contribute to antioxidant support in the diet. Due to its natural fat content, wheat germ also adds modest energy to feed formulations.
