Xanthan Gum - Feed Ingredient

Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide produced through the fermentation of carbohydrates by the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris. It is widely used as a thickening, stabilizing, and emulsifying agent in food, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications. Xanthan gum is highly soluble in water and forms a viscous solution even at low concentrations.

In equine nutrition, xanthan gum is sometimes included in supplements or liquid feed products to improve texture, consistency, and suspension of ingredients. It helps prevent ingredient separation and ensures uniform distribution of nutrients in liquid or gel-based formulations. While xanthan gum itself is not a significant source of nutrition, it can enhance the palatability and usability of certain feed products.
