Yeast Extract - Feed Ingredient
Yeast extract is derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae or other yeast species through autolysis or hydrolysis, processes that break down yeast cells and release their intracellular components. It is rich in peptides, amino acids, nucleotides, and other bioactive compounds that contribute to its functional properties in animal nutrition.
While not a direct probiotic, the beneficial compounds released from yeast provide gut health and immune benefits. Yeast extract is often included in digestive support formulations and performance feeds to aid nutrient absorption and overall gut function.
