Green Tea Extract - Feed Ingredient
Green tea extract is derived from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant and is rich in polyphenolic compounds, particularly catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It also contains flavonoids, tannins, and trace amounts of caffeine.
In equine supplements, green tea extract is included primarily for its antioxidant properties, which may help reduce oxidative stress in horses undergoing intense exercise, travel, or other stressors. It may also be used in formulations targeting immune or cellular support.
