Lipase - Feed Ingredient
Lipase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of fats (lipids) into glycerol and free fatty acids. In biological systems, lipases play a critical role in the digestion and metabolism of dietary fats. In equine nutrition, lipase may be included as an exogenous enzyme in feed additives or supplements to support fat digestion, particularly in diets with elevated oil or fat content.
Commercial lipase used in feed is typically produced through microbial fermentation using organisms such as Aspergillus or Rhizopus species, followed by purification and stabilization. It may be included in powdered, granulated, or encapsulated forms to preserve activity through feed processing.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Lipase as an ingredient.
