Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate - Feed Ingredient
Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate (MDCP) is an inorganic compound used as a supplemental source of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in animal feed. It is produced through the reaction of phosphoric acid with limestone or other calcium sources, followed by purification and drying. The resulting product contains a mix of monocalcium phosphate (CaH₄P₂O₈) and dicalcium phosphate (CaHPO₄), offering a balance of readily available phosphorus and calcium.
In equine nutrition, MDCP is included in feed formulations to support skeletal health, metabolic functions, and energy utilization. Calcium and phosphorus are critical for bone development, muscle function, and cellular processes, with an ideal dietary ratio necessary to maintain proper mineral balance.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate as an ingredient.
