Palm Kernel Oil - Feed Ingredient

Palm Kernel Oil is a plant-derived oil extracted from the kernel (seed) of the fruit of the oil palm tree (Elaeis guineensis). It differs from palm oil, which is extracted from the fruit’s flesh. Palm kernel oil is semi-solid at room temperature and is composed primarily of saturated fatty acids, particularly lauric acid, along with smaller amounts of myristic and oleic acids. It is valued for its oxidative stability and long shelf life.

In equine nutrition, Palm Kernel Oil is used as a concentrated energy source, particularly in high-fat feed formulations or supplements for performance horses, hard keepers, or those needing additional calories without increasing starch intake. Its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are digested and metabolized efficiently.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Palm Kernel Oil as an ingredient.
