The In Vitro Digestion and Fermentation Characteristics of Feedstuffs Inoculated With Cecal or Colic Fluid of Dezhou Donkey. The present study was conducted to evaluate the in vitro dry matter disappearance (IVDMD) and fermentation characteristics of 6 fibrous feedstuffs incubated with donkey cecal or colic microorganisms. The fibrous feeds were corn straw, wheat straw, peanut vine, peanut shell, wheat shell and wheat bran (WB), which are commonly applied in large-scale donkey farms in China. Equine Pulmonary Agenesis and Hypoplasia Associated With Diaphragmatic Herniation. Pulmonary malformations are rare equine congenital anomalies. Over a 3-year timeframe, three cases of left sided pulmonary agenesis were diagnosed in perinatal foals. All three cases were associated with concurrent ipsilateral diaphragmatic herniation and hypoplasia of the right lung lobe. All three foals died immediately following parturition due to perinatal asphyxia associated with the congenital malformations. To the author's knowledge, this is the first report of pulmonary agenesis in the horse.

Novel Technique for Transducer Handling in Sterile Ultrasound Guided Procedures. The objective of this paper is to describe a novel technique for handling an ultrasound transducer while performing sterile ultrasound guided procedures. First Case Report of Aspergillary Rhinopharyngitis in a Foal From Chile. We present the first case of rhinopharyngitis due to Aspergillus fumigatus in a purebred Chilean horse. Clinically, manifested mucopurulent discharge from both nostrils, inflammation of the nasal, ocular, and ear mucosa; associated with decay and hyporexia. Based on the clinical signs and analysis of the mycological and molecular transtracheal aspirate sample, the present case was diagnosed as Aspergillus fumigatus rhinopharyngitis. After the antifungal susceptibility test, oral itraconazole treatment was maintained for 45 days, showing no clinical sign.

Retrospective Analysis of Cause-of-Death at an Equine Retirement Center in the Netherlands Over an Eight-Year Period. Geriatric horses (>15 years) represent a substantial proportion of the equine population. The objective of this study was to (1) report on the cause of death in geriatric horses on a single retirement centre, (2) to evaluate the relationship between PPID status, and mortality rate.
